The Friends of the Rochester Public Library raise funds to expand the library’s collections and programs, support special projects, and promote awareness through community involvement.

Funds come mainly from membership contributions, special events, and the sale of donated books at the Friends' Book Store, the sale of books online, sales of "special and unusual" books and through four large auditorium book sales held throughout the year.

We help keep the library strong by being an active part of the community!

Supporting the Library

man and baby reading a book$4,000 Matching Grant

The Friends of the Rochester Public Library started the Read With Me program over 25 years ago. Through this program, the mother of each baby born at Methodist and Olmsted Hospitals receives a bag with a Baby Reader, an Imagination Library application, lists of popular baby and toddler books and an introduction to the Rochester Public Library. The bags are assembled and delivered by the Day Makers Kiwanis Club. Last year, over 3,900 babies were gifted this Read With Me bag.

While the Read With Me program is very important to the Friends of the Rochester Public Library and to the Rochester community, the Covid 19 pandemic has limited our fundraising.

An anonymous donor has stepped forward with a promise to match dollar for dollar to support this program up to $4,000. Please consider making a donation to this worthy cause and have your donation doubled!

Please make your check out to the Friends of the Rochester Public Library, RWM (Read With Me) and mail it to Friends of the Rochester Public Library, 101 Second Street SE, Rochester, MN 55904. Or please send your donation to our PayPal account, friends4rpl@gmail.com.

Thank you very much for your kind consideration of our request.
