OPEN CALL FOR ENTRY:

Theme: Five
Entries accepted: February 20th – March 20th
Exhibition: March 27th – May 21st

The theme for our upcoming exhibit is, simply: Five

Or, 5. The number. A simple word for inspiration. What does that word, or number, make you think about? Maybe there are 5 people in your family. Maybe you like to give high fives. Maybe you are five years old. Maybe you want to draw 5 apples. Maybe you have five favorite things! Maybe the shape of that number makes you think of something else? Whatever you think about, use that idea to create a work of art! ... I’m excited to see what you come up with!  Gimme five!

Up to 24 pieces will be selected for display in the gallery, an average of 8 from each of the following age groups:  5-12, 13-17, and 18+. The gallery walls are secured behind glass and located just inside the Youth Services area on the first floor. The show will be juried by Rochester Public Library Youth Services staff. Selections will be made based on relevance to the theme, adherence to technical guidelines (below), artistic merit, craftsmanship, originality, and completeness of the application. Artists will be notified via e-mail or phone regarding the display of their artwork.

Eligibility

All artists must be residents of Olmsted County at the time of submission. All styles and media will be accepted, but work must be 2 dimensional, sized within 12”wide x 12”high x 1”deep. If they wish, artists may pick up a 12” x 12” panel upon which to create their art at the Youth Services information desk. All submissions must be original works of art. Submissions can be entered electronically via email or dropped off in person. Physical submissions not chosen must be picked up by the start date of the exhibition. Selected artwork that arrives unframed or unmounted will be hung by the best method determined by YS staff.
